Lexington to Host IFAR 2025: A Key Event for Racehorse Aftercare

The 2025 International Forum for the Aftercare of Racehorses (IFAR) will take place from April 24-26 in Lexington, Kentucky, with a focus on aftercare organisations. The three-day event will include a traditional conference at Spy Coast Farm’s Equine Education Centre, along with several on-site visits to accredited aftercare facilities in the area and a social gathering.

On the first day, leading experts in aftercare will present at the conference at Spy Coast. Attendees will then visit New Vocations for its Open Barn & BBQ event. On the second day, participants will tour three additional aftercare organisations: Old Friends, the Secretariat Centre, and the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF).

The final day will feature a social event during the cross-country phase of the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by MARS Equestrian—one of the world’s top 5* equestrian competitions. Thoroughbreds are frequently part of the competition, though the number of entries can vary each year.
